Education service’s key strengths
Tuesday, April 20, 2004
The Ministry of Education, Human Resources and Culture has issued summary
results of its Little Cayman Education Service inspection report, carried out
26-28 November last year.
The Little Cayman education service was judged to have many positive
features, including: “The service is well-led and managed; there is effective
teamwork which results in a caring and positive ethos, marked by happy, settled
and confident pupils; the quality of teaching and learning in language arts,
mathematics and religious education is good.
“Pupils’ literacy and numeracy skills are well-developed; they have very good
attitudes to learning; pupils achieve well overall and make good progress; their
personal development is very good; pupils generally behave very well; parents
and community members are committed to the service and are actively involved in,
and supportive of its work”.
Inspectors advised the service to ensure that the work done in all subjects
helped pupils to build on their skills, knowledge and understanding in a
systematic way. This would further improve the quality of teaching and learning,
as well as raise the standards achieved by students.
The inspectors recommended that the service should seek help where necessary,
to address this issue.
A copy of the summary report is also available on the Schools Inspectorate’s
web-site www.ITALIC.ky or
