John Gray Recyclers get a mention
BOSTON, USA – The Christian Science Monitor reports that the John Gray
Recyclers, high school students in the Cayman Islands, have collected small
mountains of trash from island beaches, organised recycling programmes,
written songs about the ocean, and raised money to save the endangered Cayman
blue iguana.
Cayman company leases presidential jet
ACCRA, Ghana – According to GhanaWeb, there have been arguments in the
Ghanaian parliament about the appropriateness of setting up Gallen Limited, an
offshore company based in the Cayman Islands, to lease a controversial
Gulfstream III Presidential Jet.
Misused funds transferred to Cayman
JAKARTA, Indonesia – The Jakarta Post reports that the late Hendra Rahardja,
one of several wealthy bankers who fled the country in 1997 to avoid
prosecution after refusing to repay US$216.7 million of misused Bank Indonesia
Liquidity Assistance funds, probably transferred his assets from Australia to
the Cayman Islands.
Cayman warned US
WASHINGTON, USA – According to the Village Voice, the Cayman Islands were
one of 12 foreign intelligence services that warned US officials to get ready
for an attack.
