Website Design course – fun and easy

Kevin Connelly,
FrontPage instructor

Monday,  September 19, 2005

FrontPage Web design expert from the US will teach a one-day course and help students produce a website on 20 October. The course is co-sponsored by Micro Matrix and the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce.

The instructor, Kevin Connelly, has designed numerous Cayman websites including www.micro-matrix.net  and will be coming to Grand Cayman especially to teach this course.

“In this one-day course I aim to teach the students that it can be fun and easy to publish an internet website,” said Mr Connelly. “Advanced HTML or programming knowledge is no longer required for professional looking results.”

The Microsoft FrontPage 101 class will teach students how to create, publish and manage a website.

During this hands-on course, students will actually produce a website and publish on a web server. Moreover, Micro Matrix will provide web hosting at no charge for the six months following the course.

“You will learn how to add pictures, sounds, tables, frames, hyperlinks, email links, page counters, marquees, feedback forms and search functions all in one day,” said Mr Connelly.

“He added that students should bring any content such as images and text, which will help produce a website. For less than the cost of a website you will create one and learn how to do it yourself.”

In addition, the course will teach students how to publish their web site to the internet and how to manage it from home.

It will be divided into two sessions.

The morning session will be to familiarize students with the program and in the afternoon session students will actually get to design and publish their own website. Although no HTML coding is required, students should have basic computing skills.

Mr Connelly has extensive FrontPage and website experience and has helped several people on the island with Information Technology.

The Microsoft FrontPage course will take place on Thursday, 20 October, from 9 am to 5:00 pm at Micro Matrix, 203 Centennial Towers, West Bay.

The cost is $400. Registration is available online at Micro Matrix at www.micro-matrix.net  or by phone at 743-4600 or at the Chamber at www.caymanchamber.ky  or by phone 949-8090.
