Jamaica’s national airline carrier, Air Jamaica has its
sights set on the Cayman Islands promising less delays among other services it
plans on improving.
Speaking at an award ceremony for travel agents at the
Marriott Hotel in George Town recently, Charles Spence, Air Jamaica’s Regional
Director Sales Jamaica/Caribbean said that Air Jamaica is coming to Cayman
with an improved service.
So far, the airline has been advertising heavily in the
local media and hired a manager to oversee operations here.
Mr Spence said that there would be fewer delays, as the
company has all its 15 aeroplanes in service.
He said the entire complement of planes is back in
service so consumers will see an improvement in the service.
Speaking before a gathering of travel agency managers and
owners, Mr Spence said that Air Jamaica is willing to work with travel
agencies.
“Don’t hesitate to call us if you have a promotion going
on. Air Jamaica will support your venture,” he pointed out.
Mr Spence encouraged travel agency owners to use the
Internet as a tool to make their trade more efficient.
“There are a lot of agencies that are using the
Internet,” he added.
“You must not look at it as something that will kill your
business look at it as a way in which you can extend your business: create
your own websites, put yourselves out there and see if you can get into the
global market.”
Meanwhile, Air Jamaica awarded several travel agencies
for their hard work in the field. Top Sellers 3rd place Director’s Award went
to Travel Pros-Omni Travel. Second Place the Vice President’s Award Cayman
Tours and 1st Place Chairman’s Award went to Cayman Travel Services.
Other major award was the Sales Appreciation award, which
went to the International Travel of Grand Cayman, Adventure Travel, Brac
International Travel, and International Travel of Grand Cayman-Grand Pavillion
