Community officer getting things done

L-R: Constable Pompey, Olson Jackson and Carlton
Montique stand by as the new speed bumps are
installed.

Thursday,  November 10, 2005

Things have got a little bumpier round the Windsor Park area after new speed bumps were recently installed.

The community beat officer Constable Pompey, after dialogue with Edward Howard and Marian Pandohie of the National Roads Authority, organised for the speed bumps to be put in at the request of the community, after he received a number of complaints from residents about motorists using the streets as a racetrack.

At a community meeting in Windsor Park in September, which was held on Oak Mill Street, Officer Pompey told the residents that the Public Works had given him the assurance that plans were on the way to have the speed bumps installed.

Chief Inspector Adrian Seales head of the community Policing department was also present at the meeting and encouraged the residents to form sub-committees in the Windsor Park community. This he said would assist the police in the reduction of crime as they (the residents) can be the watch-dog for their community.

Another meeting is slated to be held in the near future so residents can meet their beat officer and voice their concerns on matters in the community.

Any residents of the Cayman Islands who would like to meet with their Beat Officer are asked to call the Community Policing departing at 949-4222 ext 2934.
