Clarification and correction
Monday, January 9, 2006
In an article printed in Cayman Net News on 5 January 2006,
“NGO seeks Cabinet approval”, one of the two founders of the Centre for Education and Development of Human Rights (CEDHR), James Stenning, was described as “an attorney and expert in constitutional law”.
Mr Stenning has subsequently pointed out that the article, which was based on an interview with the other founder, Nick Robson, and upon information provided by him, was incorrect.
Mr Stenning has requested that we point out that he is in fact an articled clerk interested in pursuing a career in civil litigation.
In addition Mr Stenning would also like to make clear at no time has he held himself out to be an attorney, implied or otherwise, neither has he held himself out to be an expert in constitutional law.
Mr Stenning would also like to point out that the views expressed by Mr Robson do not necessarily reflect his own.
The Cayman Net News reporter’s notes confirm that Mr Robson said, that Mr Stenning was, “finishing his articles”, and went on to describe Mr Stenning as “brilliant in constitutional law”.
Net News regrets that in paraphrasing Mr Robson’s remarks, readers may have misinterpreted Mr Stenning as a qualified lawyer and would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused to him.
