The Lions Club of Tropical Gardens has donated funds to the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority (HSA) to cover the cost of three IV pumps for chemotherapy treatment and for the training of two nurses in Cayman Brac to administer chemotherapy.

Two cheques were presented by Ms Elva Smith, President of the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens to Health Services Authority CEO, Lizzette Yearwood and Chemotherapy nurse, RN Cyndy Ebankson 20 June.

In presenting the cheques, Ms Smith said: “This donation will help fulfill a need, benefiting both patients and the community.”

Mrs Yearwood thanked the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens for the donation to help purchase the equipment along with the need for chemotherapy training for nurses at Faith Hospital.

“Currently, chemotherapy patients in Cayman Brac must travel to George Town for their treatments. Many times they are alone and unwell after their treatment and must travel back to Cayman Brac”, Mrs Yearwood stated. “This donation will help allow these treatments to take place in Cayman Brac, eliminating additional travel for the patients.”
