Chamber of Commerce holds customer service training

Monday, February 19, 2007

Rod Waddell and some of the graduates of the Chamber of Commerce customer service workshops.

Close to 100 employees participated in three full-day workshops, organised by the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce.

The Professional Training and Development Centre, a division of the Chamber of Commerce, offers one and two-day workshops in customer service, basic and management skills, sales and marketing, financial management and budget planning. Rod Waddell and Dr Mels Carbonell conducted the recent workshops.

Led by Mr Waddell, the ‘Delegating for Results’ seminar helped supervisors learn effective delegation methods.

The ‘Advanced Sales Skills’ workshop assisted local sales people to develop existing skills and to learn new techniques that will help them to sell more effectively.

Mr Waddell is an international consultant, who has worked with many Fortune 500 companies in North America and has conducted workshops for the Chamber for almost 20 years.

On Tuesday 13, February, Dr Carbonell, PhD in Human Behaviour & Leadership and President of the Leadership Institute of America, conducted a full-day seminar on ‘Customer Service Excellence.’

Dr Carbonell addressed areas such as ‘people based’ selling and servicing, management, team building and motivation.

Sixty-nine people participated in this workshop, held in the Stephen Jared Ebanks Youth Centre behind the Agape Church.

The next course is ‘Basic Grammar’ and Writing Workshop’ and will be held on 22 February at the Chamber of Commerce.

Participants will be provided with the opportunity to ‘polish’ their skills through this course and should therefore have at least a moderate capability in English.

To enroll in a Chamber of Commerce Professional Development and Training course, contact the Chamber at www.caymanchamber.ky or call 949-8090.

Business studies have shown that organisations that invest in regular training and professional development programmes are far more productive and profitable than businesses that ignore the development of their managers and workers.

The Chamber’s Professional Development and Training Centre has provided members, their employees and the wider community with high quality and affordable training programmes and seminars since 1995.
