Letter: A great loss to the Cayman Islands

Published on Friday, June 11, 2010 Email To Friend    Print Version

Dear Sir:

Dr Pedley's death is indeed a great loss to the Cayman Islands. I considered him a personal friend and will miss him greatly. Dr Pedley was instrumental in helping me set up the collection in the Cayman National Archives in the honour of Mr and Mrs W.S. Coe.

Many items had great personal value to our family as well as historical significance to the islands, and it was fantastic the way he went about preserving them for future Caymanians. Meeting with him on my trips to Cayman was always a real treat. He was a true professional and I am sure his legacy will live on in the present staff of the Cayman National Archives.

So long dear friend, and rest well in the knowledge that you had a very real contribution to the islands.

Everette Humphrey
